The El Dorado Camera Club host two types of competitions. Our "Print Competition" which is held
3 times a year and our "Monthly Challenge" which is held 7 times a year.
The "Print Competition" has multiple categories and is judged by a non member who is usually a
long term professional photographer or college photography teacher. This competition is held the
months of February, May and October and is the only event scheduled for these meetings. It is a
great tool for learning composure, techniques and style as the judge critiques the entries in front of
the audience. It is open to anyone and there is a small entry fee. Ribbons are awarded for first,
second and third places. Monetary prizes are awarded for Theme and Best of Show winners.
The "Monthly Challenge" is held 7 times a year: January, March, April, June, August, September,
November. It is audience judged by ballots at the beginning of our regular meetings. It is geared
to get people out and photographing, to work with different topics and to be fun. It is open to
members only for entries but anyone in the audience can vote. Each Monthly Challenge
competition has a different theme. The winner receives a monetary prize.
